News of the Supreme Court decision to reverse Roe v. Wade hit me hard. I felt anger, fear, uncertainty, and solidarity with others affected by this decision. Though enraged, I turned to art to quell my quivering heart. Hang me out to dry showcases the social contracts of womanhood through a thrifted world globe, strands of push-up bra cup insert fabric, and jewelry scraps. In this piece, I explore how women and femmes are seen as something to be used, cut, damaged, destroyed, and thrown away by the patriarchy. Yet, drawing into the depths of humanity, one can realize the balance of strength, trials, resilience, feminine mystique, power, and wonder that repurposes and renews us into something never seen before.
